Meet, Greet, and Plot.

So how many characters will this be after Kayaba's announcement?
«Meet and Greet»

Applications and reserves are closed. The first floor information post is now up. Along with the game officially starting on Saturday. That means it's time to Meet and Greet! Doubles as a chance to plot for CR and shenanigans while we're at it too.

«Your Name» What you would like to be called by.
«Contact» Your preferred method of OOC contact.

«Character(s)» Include their usernames and what canon they are from.
«Personality/AU Information» Just a quick and short rundown to give other players a general idea.
«Plans for character(s)» Are they going to leave the Starting City? Stick it out in the city for a week? Or just remain in denial and hang around hoping help will come? Try and level for the first floor boss fight? A short and quick run down is fine.
«CR you would like» Basically, is there any kind of CR you would like to see for your character(s)? Positive CR or Negative CR? Things like that.

«Character(s)» Lapis, aka Sapphire Birch (Pokemon Special).
«Personality/AU Information» A bright, spirited kid who in her AU persona wants to impress well upon others in a typical way despite having an interesting but unglamorous real life.
«Plans for character(s)» She's going to be quietly panicking for a while, but will eventually - cautiously - venture back out into the starting areas and begin playing for real. As she regains her confidence, she'll approach the game more enthusiastically, but will focus more on building her game persona and taking this chance to live a fantasy than on seriously training to fight.

AND THEN...there's my Long-Term Plan. Details in a comment under this one so that it can collapse when the page gets bigger instead of taking up a bunch of space.

«CR you would like»
- Older friends or mentor figures, who Sapphire takes to like a moth to light (and also would help to speed up her getting-out-of-the-starting-city process)
- Petty negative CR - light on negative drama to start off with, but insignificant conflicts are easy for young kids to blow out of proportion and make for funny and interesting motivations.
- Buddies in general. Unhelpful as a statement, but true.

THE LONG-TERM PLAN.

See, in canon, Sapphire starts out awfully different in external personality from how she is in this AU, and it's due to an Incident in her childhood that's very difficult to replicate in a real-world setting. This same Incident, however, translates perfectly to the setting of SAO. Details in smalltext.

At some point I want to recreate this Incident, which would go like this in SAO: Sapphire and stronger friend are goofing around in a supposedly safe area. A motherfucking dragon shows up as part of an unexpected event, and stronger friend is the only one properly equipped to fight it. Stronger friend fights to defend Sapphire, who knows it's unsafe to charge in and has no flippin' clue what to do but shrink back and watch. Stronger friend eventually kills the dragon, but is severely injured (or even killed, though this would be a tricky thing to pull off for...obvious reasons and is thus an opportunity option)

An event like this would cause Sapphire to head towards where her external personality is in canon, and I'd love to be able to play this out if possible. This being a Long-Term-Plan, I'm definitely not looking for a committed participant right this instant, but I thought I'd throw it up here since I've pretty much solidified the plan.

You know, I was thinking about how it'd be great to app a character just to kill them off horribly early on :|a If no one else offers I'd totally be up for bringing in an obscure character for this.

Omg @ point 2- I would totally love for Sol to offhandedly offend her somehow early on, and for her to get like, a longterm grudge on him from that point (while he totally forgets who she even is). That'd be hilarious, haha.

That is exactly the kind of thing I'm gunning for.

Certainly a good reason! Lapis (god I'm going to need to get used to using that name primarily aha) is all over this friends thing, and we younglings need a nice solid emotional support network, right? Right.

...oh damn I forgot to mention in the form something I thought about while filling it out: Sapphire's initial avatar is going to look a few years older than she herself is, just for cool points. That only has any bearing for the first week, but it's a good thing to mention somewhere.

Riiiight, Rika will go along with this friend thing as long as it keeps her safe/alive. And oops, I totally forgot Rika's going by "Frederica" in the game. I'm going to have to get used to this too. orz

I would enjoy CR for Reasons.

well Erika likes to poke people anyway and if she doesn't have a reason to get actually vicious then it's usually petty annoying if that appeals!! But she does like it when people look up to her. Sometimes she'll end up nicer to them because she's kind of desperate for recognition.

~~Though plus she's secretly playing big sis role and will want to at least know of Rika's friends. But shh.~~

Let's give it a shot and see what comes out of the situation! Most of my CR ends up kinda flying by the seat of its plants anyways.

Works for me! That's usually how I do things too. CR can go in pretty unexpected directions so yeah!

ECHOING THAT SENTIMENT UP AHEAD, it's been so long since I've seen a Pokemon Special char and oh gosh, it's so nice to see Sapphire around again *A*

That said, Haruka is pretty energetic herself, so whenever she finally feels comfortable with getting out of the city, she would definitely be up for adventure time! ...And as she's not the most mature herself either, you can bet that she'll probably be up for some kind of dumb and petty conflicts too pffff.

Rinoa can qualify for the Older friend role at least? Rinoa's probably going to be looking out for younger players right out of the gate in hopes of helping them start out.

Yuki and Sapphire can be interesting together! Yuki has a lot of spirit but is really shy about, well, most things involving interaction with other people, but she's really good at strategy and such!

I am definitely interested in this! Sapphire would go along really well with a quieter friend. Your threads in the first day log look awesome, but I don't know how to hit them up without breaking time - can I mark a future first meeting on my priorities board? Got an idea of what Yuki'll be doing during the first week or so?

After the you're stuck here announcement thing Yuki decided that instead of being part of the action she'll become a blacksmith so she'll be working on that skill and collecting the materials she needs and hopefully trying to make a name for herself
